How to Check Internet Availability at Your Address
A provider serving your ZIP code may not serve your building or unit. Research availability using your full address, and treat maps as a starting point for a conversation rather than an installation guarantee.
Use the full service address
Include the apartment, suite, or unit number when you check service. For a new building or an address a provider cannot find, ask how it handles address verification and whether a serviceability review is needed.
The ZIP form on this website displays a phone assistance prompt only. It does not check coverage, confirm promotions, or send the ZIP to our phone team.
Research the FCC National Broadband Map
The FCC National Broadband Map lets you look up locations and see provider-reported availability. Use it to identify possible connections to investigate, then contact the relevant provider to confirm the offer and installation conditions.
If the map information appears wrong, the FCC provides a process for reporting availability discrepancies. Follow the instructions on the official map help pages and keep records of what the provider tells you.
Confirm what can actually be installed
Ask whether service is ready at the address or requires a technician visit, building access, or additional work. Renters should check any property access or installation requirements with the landlord or building manager.
For a wireless home connection, confirm address eligibility, equipment placement guidance, and any return or trial terms. A coverage indication does not promise the same performance in every room.
- Is this specific plan orderable at my full address?
- Does installation require a visit or building access?
- Which equipment and upfront costs apply?
- When can activation be confirmed in writing?
Keep your existing connection until timing is clear
If you are moving or switching, confirm the new service arrangements before scheduling cancellation. Check the old provider’s billing, cancellation, and equipment return terms. An overlap may be useful if reliable internet is essential, but compare its cost first.
Keep order confirmations and reference numbers together. If an installation date changes, those records make it easier to discuss the next step with the provider.
